Stash: Remember Everything, by Grafted Software
Capture. Type or speak in the app (speech to text), use the share sheet, the Home Screen widget, or the Shortcuts extension, or dictate on Apple Watch. Stash does not record meeting audio. Offline notes queue on the device and are summarized when you are back online.
AI organization. Zero prompts. Every note comes back with a summary and tags, stored as Markdown. Deep Research is a separate report you start on a summarized note.
Agent access. Stash runs a hosted MCP server. Search, read, update, and delete are free. Creating notes and Deep Research use a monthly allowance: 30 summaries and 5 Deep Research reports per UTC month on the free plan. Ask (questions across your notes) needs Stash Pro. Agents can write back.
Export. PDF or Markdown.
Privacy. Encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, not end to end. Summaries use Anthropic's Claude through OpenRouter.
Platforms. iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. No Mac, web, or Android app yet.
Price. Free to download. The free plan is 30 summaries and 5 Deep Research reports per UTC month. Stash Pro is an optional App Store subscription that raises those limits.
Whisper Memos
What they say. Their homepage says "Record a voice memo, receive it as email." It says you record on iPhone and Apple Watch.
Capture. Their watch page says a complication starts a recording and the iPhone can stay in a pocket. Their homepage says the Watch app can record without the iPhone nearby, recordings can be up to 90 minutes, and offline recordings upload later.
Pricing. Their pricing page lists $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year, and says the app is free to try. Paid plans include unlimited memos.
Delivery. Their homepage says each memo comes back as a formatted email with a summary, and that memos can be sent on to other apps.
Not verified on the pages checked today, so not compared here: an MCP server or other direct connection for Claude or ChatGPT, end to end encryption, and a Mac, web, or Android app.
When to pick them instead
- You want the audio, a transcript, and an email for each memo.
- You want a watch complication that starts a recording.
- You want to route memos to other apps through the integrations they list.
